How Multi Ride Map works

The app shows several cycling GPX routes on one map, each in its own colour. Instead of opening five maps, you import the rides together and see the area, the overlaps and the differences between routes.

Getting started

  1. Get the GPX. Download a GPX file manually from an activity (e.g. on Strava or Garmin Connect). The app never downloads anything from web services itself.
  2. Import rides. Click “Add GPX” or drop files into the frame in the side panel. You can import several at once (up to 20 files, each up to 10 MB, up to 200,000 points in total). A file with several tracks becomes several separate rides, and a bad file does not stop the import of the others.
  3. Explore the map. Clicking a route or a ride in the list selects it and opens a popup with the elevation profile. You can hide, zoom to, rename, recolour and reorder rides. “Show all visible rides” fits the view to all of them.
  4. Adjust the look. Choose a basemap (classic, topographic, CyclOSM cycling, satellite), turn the route outline on and set the line width and opacity for all rides at once.
  5. Read the numbers. Each ride shows its distance, elevation gain and time. If the GPX contains timestamps, the time is the measured moving time; otherwise it is an estimate for the chosen pace (relaxed, steady, sporty or custom); estimated values are marked with “≈”. The summary on the map shows the total for visible rides.

Saving and exporting

Rides and settings are lost when you refresh the page until you save them. The app warns you about unsaved changes.

ActionWhat it does
Save / Save asSaves the project in this browser. The list is under “My projects” (open, rename, delete).
Export → project fileDownloads a .mrm.json file with all rides and settings; you open it with “Import” (replace or merge with the current project).
Export → combined GPXOne file where each ride is a separate track; suitable for other apps.
Export → map imageA PNG with the current view, title, legend (distance, elevation gain, time) and basemap attribution.

Projects are stored only in this browser and profile. Private mode, clearing data or the browser itself can delete them — export the project file for permanent storage. Timestamps reveal when a ride was done, so you can remove them when exporting. If you import the same GPX file again, the app detects it and asks whether to skip it.

The map image cannot be exported with the satellite basemap because the provider’s terms do not clearly allow it.

Privacy

  • GPX files, coordinates and projects are never sent to any server.
  • No analytics and no cookies.
  • Map tiles are loaded directly from the provider of the chosen basemap (OpenStreetMap, OpenTopoMap, CyclOSM, Esri); it sees the displayed area from the requests, but not the content of your GPX files.
